Jesse C. Carson High School, opened in 2006, was designed to be the first new high school in Rowan County in 45 years.  Its student population was taken from four existing schools namely, South Rowan HS, East Rowan HS, West Rowan HS and Salisbury HS.  This fact provided the inspiration for the design of the new school logo and is represented by the four stars under the giant “C” found in the new entrance atrium.

Jesse C. Carson High School Atrium

The two story design features a gym, auditorium, and a large atrium that offers 360 degree views of each of its four academic wings for security purposes by school personnel.  Skylights, deep overhangs and other green design principles were introduced to help meet the requirements of an Energy Star standard school and provide the owner long term life cycle cost reduction.
